It's no surprise the UN Security Council couldn't agree on the Russian proposal to ban space weapons. As libertarians, we believe in minimal government interference and the sovereignty of nations to defend themselves, even in space. This failure just shows how unrealistic it is to expect global governance to effectively manage the defense capabilities of independent states. Plus, the lack of verification and enforcement mechanisms in the resolution really drives home the point that such proposals are more about political posturing than achieving practical security outcomes.
